Historically, Grapevine has a unique connection to the past.  In 1943, General Sam Houston met at Grape Vine Springs with leaders of ten Native American tribes to sign a peace treaty.  At the time, Grape Vine Springs was named for the mustang grapes that grew wild in the area.  Later, the name was shortened to Grapevine.  In 2007, CNNMoney named Grapevine one of “America’s Best Places to Live.”

The Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District serves most of the students who live in the area.  Grapevine High School was named both a National Blue Ribbon School and a New American High School.  In 2007, Newsweek ranked Grapevine High School as the 41^st best high school in the nation.

Places of interest in and around Grapevine include the Dallas – Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Grapevine Mills Mall, the Gaylord Texan, a large Bass Pro Shop, Grapevine Lake, the Great Wolf Lodge, the Grapevine Opry, and the Grapevine Vintage Rail Road.  In addition, Grapevine is home to several wineries, numerous outstanding restaurants, hotels and plenty of vintage shops in historic old downtown Grapevine.
