 The Colony Texas consists of about 20 square miles of land located in southeastern Denton County. It is bordered by Frisco on the north and east, Lake Lewisville to the west and Carrollton to the south. The city was originally part of Frico's outlying area but was incorporated as a separate municipality in 1977.
Today with a population of around 30,000 people, the city is known for its family friendly atmosphere built around sports and recreational activities. Students in The Colony attend facilities provided by the Lewisville Independent School District. The city has approximately six elementary buildings, two middle schools and one high school. Students from The Colony High School have earned national acclaim in academic and athletic competitions. Residents from The Colony can also attend Collin County Community College at resident tuition rates.
