The City of Southlake Texas is a modern day suburb of both Dallas and Fort Worth  in North Central Texas. It consists of approximately 22 square miles spanning northeast Tarrant and southeast Denton Counties. Founded in the 1840s, the area known as Southlake today includes the original settlements of Whites Chapel, Dove, Union Church and Jellico.  The area remained rural for many years and still includes tracts large enough for light agriculture and equestrian activities.  Beginning with the opening of nearby DFW International Airport in the 1970s, Southlake grew steadily throughout the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. As of 2010, the city's population is nearing its full capacity of around 25,000 people. Southlake is known for its quality standard of living, unique shopping district, and exemplary school system. The average household size was 3.35 and the average family size was 3.48.

In 2009, Southlake's zip code, 76092, was ranked among the wealthiest zip codes in the United States with a population between 10,000-25,000 people. The median price asked for a home in Southlake is $437,800. About 60% of the occupied houses have nine or more rooms and 70% have four or more bedrooms. Most have 4 or more bathrooms and average approximately 4,000 square feet (370 m²) in size. Some are much larger. The city is home to many top executives, professional athletes and other public figures looking for a quality lifestyle away from the larger cities and close to a major transportation hub.
